Kathy’s Alterations opened in 1980. Mine was the very first alterations business in Ahwatukee (Phoenix), Arizona. I attended a vocational school, which locals call the “Voc” in my hometown of Lawrence, Mass. At the “Voc” I learned the fine art of tailoring, alterations, fashion and design. I discovered that I have a knack for sewing, which became my passion. I relocated to Arizona and honed my skills at high end retailers. I enjoyed the work, but something was missing. I wanted to connect with my customers in a close, more personal level. My goal with each and every client is to help them look and feel their very best, to become their most confident self. I provide a personal experience that is more like working with a friend rather than just a business transaction.
